Uganda’s Financial Intelligence Authority has received ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for its Information Security Management System, marking a step in the agency’s work to manage risks around sensitive information.
The certification was handed over through the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda at a ceremony officiated by Minister of State for Finance Henry Musasizi.
FIA is one of the public institutions participating in an information security management initiative funded by the World Bank. NITA-U is implementing the programme through the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project–Government Network.
The standard provides a structured approach to managing information security risks. For an agency handling financial intelligence, the focus includes organisational practices and safeguards for the systems and data it uses.
NITA-U said it would continue helping government bodies strengthen their systems, skills and security practices. The certification recognises an established management framework; continued effectiveness depends on how that framework is maintained as technology, threats and public-sector digital services evolve.
