Mozambique’s communications regulator INCM and the Foundation for Business Competitiveness, FUNDEC, are exploring cooperation on digital connectivity and its economic impact. Their meeting took place at INCM on 27 October.

INCM chair Helena Fernandes received a delegation led by FUNDEC’s Agostinho Vuma. Discussions covered research and analysis tools, business connectivity, artificial intelligence and the relationship between communications infrastructure and competitiveness.

The regulator presented statistical and mapping tools alongside initiatives intended to expand access and improve service quality, including in rural areas. The institutions also discussed the postal sector’s contribution to the economy.

A possible collaboration could connect FUNDEC’s research with assessments of connectivity investment, helping examine benefits for businesses and communities. No formal partnership agreement was announced. The immediate development is therefore a discussion about shared work, with the scope and delivery arrangements still to be established before it becomes an operational programme.
