Mytherapist’s founders, Oluwaseun Raphael Afolayan and Dedoyin Ajayi, are building a Nigerian platform around the practical steps between deciding to seek therapy and receiving professional support.
The company was founded in 2021, piloted in October 2022 and began public paid bookings in January 2023. A new interview published by Disrupt Africa on 5 November describes its current focus on therapist discovery, appointment booking and remote sessions through video, audio or chat.
The business also offers wellbeing tools and access through employers and health maintenance organisations. It earns commissions on bookings and sells corporate services and an optional membership.
Afolayan reported more than 25,000 users, over 4,000 paid bookings and more than 120 onboarded therapists. Those measures describe different stages of adoption and should not be combined into a single paying-client figure. Nigeria remains the core market; use from overseas is not the same as an established foreign operation.
