Liberia’s Telecommunications Authority has identified 15 potential locations for additional telecom towers as part of an assessment of coverage gaps across 14 counties.

Two teams are examining communities in the country’s western, central and southeastern regions. The work falls under the Universal Access Fund, which supports efforts to connect places that remain underserved by commercial network investment.

According to the authority, the proposed expansion would build on 15 existing towers supported through the fund. The new locations are candidates for development, rather than operational sites already delivering service.

No construction timetable or service activation date has been announced for the identified sites. The next question for affected communities is how the assessment translates into funded infrastructure and functioning network coverage. The distinction matters because selecting a location is an early step in deployment, not the completion of a tower project.
