Vodafone Business and partners outline Egypt data-centre and AI plans

Vodafone Business, Elsewedy Electric and Cassava Technologies have announced partnerships to develop data-centre and sovereign AI infrastructure in Egypt.

The September 2026 announcement outlines an initial 20 megawatts of capacity over three years, with an ambition to expand to 200 megawatts.

The partners also plan locally available advanced computing and GPU-as-a-Service capabilities. The figures describe a development plan, not capacity already operating at full scale.

For Egypt’s digital economy, the initiative concerns the physical and service infrastructure behind cloud and AI adoption. Construction progress, commissioned capacity and confirmed customer services will provide a clearer measure of delivery than the project’s headline investment target.
