Airtel Africa Foundation has upgraded four adopted schools in Uganda, adding learning facilities that include computers and internet access.
The intervention reaches 3,349 learners and 83 teachers, according to the announcement reported on November 4. The computer facilities contain 40 computers across the four schools.
Expanding the school adoption programme
The upgrades also cover classrooms and sanitation infrastructure. They take the number of schools supported through the foundation’s School Adoption Programme in Uganda to nine.
The initiative combines digital access with improvements to the wider learning environment. The announcement reports the facilities provided and the population reached; it does not provide an assessment of learning outcomes following the upgrades.
For schools receiving the equipment, the next phase will be using the connected facilities within teaching and learning activities.
