Grey, the cross-border payments business co-founded and led by Idorenyin Obong, has received Central Bank of Nigeria approval to operate as an International Money Transfer Operator.
The development adds a Nigerian regulatory foundation to a company built around helping individuals and businesses manage international earnings. Its services include multi-currency accounts and virtual cards.
The IMTO approval concerns inbound international money transfers into Nigeria. It should not be read as a general banking licence or as permission for every possible outbound payment service. Reporting published this week describes the approval as supporting Grey’s plans to expand its remittance operations and payment corridors.
Obong described the licence as part of Grey’s longer-term investment in reliable cross-border infrastructure. For the company, the next operational question is how that approval translates into dependable receiving and settlement experiences. The licence is a separate development from Grey’s previously covered Paycheck product launch.
