Kenya’s Kenafric Group has launched a $10 million corporate venture fund for African consumer businesses, combining investment with access to manufacturing and distribution capabilities.
Kenafric Ventures plans individual investments of $100,000 to $2 million in early-stage companies that have demonstrated product-market fit and are ready to expand. S2E Africa manages the fund, which was developed with support from FSD Africa.
The investment scope includes food and beverages, beauty and personal care, and consumer-facing retail platforms. Direct-to-consumer brands and related business models are also within its remit, making the opportunity broader than a software-only fund.
For selected founders, the practical attraction is help getting products made and onto shelves across markets. The fund draws on Kenafric’s operating experience since 1987. Its announced size represents investment capacity, rather than confirmation that the full amount has already been deployed into portfolio companies.
